The parental home and the school bear joint responsibility for children. In order for both sides to be aware of this, and to foster a relationship of trust between parents or guardians, teaching staff, the school leadership team and the Secondary School Board. Parents are encouraged to be involved in school life. It is our goal to raise the quality of the cooperation between everyone connected with our school, to enhance the quality of schooling and to improve the climate for learning.

The Parents’ Forum is available to the parents of all students at GSEH. From their ranks, 4 to 6 parents, the School Leadership Team and one representative of the teaching staff as well as one from the Secondary School Board make up the Executive Committee. This committee addresses ideas, requests and concerns of the Parents’ Forum. Working groups and project groups may be set up as required for planning, organising and realising projects. The Executive Committee encourages cooperation with the Student Council and ensures that there is student participation.

Parents may not interfere in the following areas:

• Classroom management, course structure, choice of teaching method
• Staffing decisions, the streaming of students and the make-up of divisions
• Problems affecting any individual student. These are not be discussed directly with the teacher in question.
