Educational Psychology Advice Service

The Educational Psychology Advice Service investigates when a child or young person is experiencing educational, emotional or social difficulties. Parents or guardians get information about the registration process from the class teacher.

School Social Services Office

The School Social Services Office is a neutral centre to which students, parents, teachers and external organisations can turn, and it serves as a hub. The primary role of the School Social Services Office is to support the development of children and young people, and to work with them to find solutions for their particular situations.

Objectives of the School Social Services Office

  • To encourage young people to develop social skills and to integrate in the life of school, also taking account of factors outside school
  • To support parents with their parenting skills
  • To support teachers in their ability to find and implement the right solution in difficult social situations in their class, or affecting individual students

How the School Social Services Office can help

  • Group and class work, e.g. on social skills and conflict resolution
  • Advice and support in individual cases
  • Project work e.g. on health promotion
  • Crisis intervention
  • Mediation e.g. at meetings with parents
  • Motivation
  • Networking with youth welfare services and services provided by local communities and specialist bodies
  • Triage of problem cases and forwarding to other bodies and individuals

The regional Samowar office in Meilen incorporates a youth advice centre and an addiction prevention office. Its services are available to parents, children and young people. Our school also works with the experts at Samowar on health promotion.
