The GSEH mission statement describes the essential concerns, values and attitudes espoused by all employees at our school. It serves as a guide for the further development of our school. The guiding principles form the basis for our actions and help us to determine our goals. Our mission statement was produced as a communal effort, with suggestions from the Secondary School Board and the Student Council taken into account. Our mission statement is valid for a specific period, after which it will be reviewed to ensure its effectiveness.
- We are ambitious and have confidence in everyone’s ability to deliver excellent performance
- We set ourselves the goal of challenging our students.
- Good performance is important to us and we help our students to achieve it.
- We encourage our students to give of their best.
- We draw on the strengths and consider the weaknesses of individuals when working together.
- Allowing each individual to fulfil their potential is important to us. We encourage this by providing targeted support for the development of exceptional skills and integrating them in an effective way
- Language and culture are important factors that enable us to make the best possible use of time at school. Any gaps in understanding due to people coming from another country or from a different social environment are identified and filled with the active support of the school. The school continuously expands and optimises the structures required for this.
- Exceptional skills can be more important for a person’s success than other aspects of their school education. Our school offers the scope and support to allow these to develop.
- We cultivate and practise a culture of appreciation and diversity
- We treat one another with respect: that goes for all of us, all the time.
- We find solutions that everyone can accept.
- We face challenges with a positive attitude.
- Detours are part of any journey
- Mistakes happen – we learn from them.
- We guide students along their various paths through life and learning.
- Together with the school’s social services and youth work, we support young people during their time at school.
- We use a balanced combination of learning methods to ensure that our teaching meets the needs of all students
- We apply individually tailored, training-based and cooperative learning methods that are appropriate for the situation.
- We provide modern learning environments.
- Our school is a learning organisation
- We make a conscious effort to address and examine economic and social developments.
- We put insights gained from science and research into practice.
- We improve the quality of our school and the education we provide through evaluation.
- We are experts in teaching and pass on this knowledge to others
- We take opportunities to further our development.
- We support teacher training.
- We train the next generation of teachers.
- Our school facilities are part of community life, especially for young people
- Our students feel comfortable at our school. They are able to spend the whole day on the school site. School and free time merge together.
- Parts of the buildings and the surrounding area are becoming an attractive meeting place, a genuine ‘free zone’ for children and young people. The school site is full of life, including at weekends and in the winter.
- We are jointly responsible for this process and make an important contribution to the development of this area by providing the right infrastructure and professional support. We organise, encourage and build on the cooperation between the relevant groups and individuals (school, social services, youth workers, neighbours, parents).
